Florence Nightingale, "The Lady With the Lamp"

Where Love Shines. Florence Nightingale, the mother of modern nursing.

Art of Illumination Prospectus 2020.

The armature started with a partial dressform & some curtain rods.

Florence Nightingale's handwritten letters make up her apron. She wears the Florence Nightingale medal.

Her dress is a collage of the history of nurses throughout history & from around the world. Included is my mother's nursing school graduation picture from 1963.

The headscarf is a deconstructed pillow case dipped in paper mache mud.

"The Lady with the Lamp"
Vintage crackle glass lantern is wired through her body.

Florence Nightingale would patrol the sick wards late at night with her single lantern bringing comfort to the soldiers.
